This week took me to both sides of the river but it was here in Roseway that I found what I was looking for in this lovely 1916 bungalow. It’s a charming three bedroom, one bathroom home full of light and character newly on the market at $345,000. Much of its immediate appeal is thanks to the warm re-finished fir floors, the built-in cupboards and bookcases, and the wonderful window seat in the elegant dining room. The kitchen captures the southern and eastern light, and is large enough to host your guests while you’re putting the finishing touches to dinner.
One slight disappointment is the size of the living room. With the fireplace and the bookcases anchoring the south wall and passage through the house to the north of the room you are going to be limited to the size of furniture you can place between the two. However the current owners have turned this area into a cozy semi-formal living room, one to entertain guests but not necessarily for kicking back and watching TV. For the latter they have cleverly chosen to use the sizeable upstairs bedroom as their family room and the bonus room for an office. While that might not work for a bigger family, it’s a great use of space in this instance. Alternatively if you do need to utilize a third bedroom then the five hundred plus square feet on the upper level could be a lovely master bedroom with the possibilty of adding a second bedroom up there. The two bedrooms on the main level are a comfortable size.
All in all, well worth a look if you are in the market for a home for a small family or a couple needing some extra space.
This listing SOLD for $347,000.
